Disco 2 Front wheel hub won’t come off

With the n/s one being the longer of the 2 I think you'll find you just have to be patient getting the spline to mesh in the diff. Remember it not going in first attempt when I did mine.

Yep! Just kept trying and all of a sudden it went in!

fitted a new hub and brake disc, calliper and pads, all back together and taken for a spin, like a dream.

3 amigos are no more (touch wood) thanks for everyone’s help and comments.

sometimes it’s just good to talk lol

Grrrrrr surely there is a technical/methodical way to refit the half shaft?!

i damaged the seal taking it out to do the hub, stripped it all down easy peazy, removed old seal, pushed in new one no problem.

And here we go again... the half shaft just will not mesh with the diff! Must of been trying to 45 mins to point my arms have gone to sleep!

Is there an official way? Or is just pure luck that the wind is in the right direction, a rabbits foot in your pocket and bobs yojr uncle magically it goes in??
 
Well I finally did it...

Something i did after much head scratching. I used a long screwdriver to lift up the drive shaft inbetween the cv joint housing thingy.

Tried to illustrate on the above picture, I was so excited once it was in, I didn’t want to take it back out for a photo lol.

This really helped to ensure the half shaft was perfectly horizontal and it slid straight in.

Hopefully this tip helps someone else in the future!

Shame you fecked the seal the first time. but if you were there anyway, good time to change them both!
I too had no problem with the nearside longer one, but suffered for a few minutes with the shorter off-side one.:eek:
