Evening ,

Looking at my series 3 2.25l from the front the tyres are out of line , if one wheel is pointing towards you the other one is slightly to the one side , photos to follow , any ideas? , thanks. If the track rod ends have been incorrectly measured can I open the clamp and adjust the distance between the track rod ends and the track rod without removing track rod ends?

You can indeed. The rod has a left-hand thread one end and a rh thread the other end, for just that reason. However, mind you don't just make them much worse! I always find that gazing at my landrover is a bad idea - there's always something that doesn't look quite right, and, just a little tweak...damn - where's the manual!!!
 
Just take it to get the tracking reset, any tyre place can do it

I wish it was like that, I have tried to have ATS do mine on the 90 ( because i was feeling lazy , :D) they said they could not do it. A colleague just had halfords do his freelander and they had to take it to a specialist, this may have been the rerason why when they changed a TRE for him two omnths ago his steering ended up 14 degrees of toe in!!!

You could do it yourself , It is not a sports car.

Getting the clamps undone and being able to turn the bar on the rusted threads is the biggest issue.

Have had my 90 done at both kwik fit and SE Tyres. They were mugging you off mate, just 4 wheel laser alignment - nothing special.

I agree nothing special,
I ended up doing it myself, and having heard my colleagues story, I was happy I did. LOL

How much did it cost you to get done Flat?

Kwik fit I can't remember as it was a few years ago but SE tyres about a month ago £25 - will look at the invoice later for exact price, it may have been cheaper
 
I am on Staffs/Derby borders you are welcome to borrow my track setting rods. Easy enough to make a set though, I tapped the ends of some 1/4 BSP gas pipe M10 and put M10 hex head set screws in each end for adjustment.
 
Two spots of tippex on the tyres then roll back two turns measure at back then at front. The front should be 1-3mm narrower than the back. ALWAYS measure after pushing forwards and do a recheck.

Don't rely on your sight the wheels will look on the **** unless you look at them from a very long way away!
