Grimmer

THE Winner
They are fine, they're very much like if not another version of the military ones, which are available from one of the big Landrover toys places (Can't remeber who it is at moment!)

QT services do some great recovery eyes that fit to your normal bumper incredibly strong about £60 the pair. Used them to get me out of a few tricky situations.

I've done a bit of searching, and think that front recovery eyes may be the way forward with regard to front recovery, will these do:confused:

Landrover Series, 90, or Defender. Front recovery eyes on eBay (end time 29-Jan-10 19:35:57 GMT)

I have a steering guard (without recovery points) so Jate rings wont fit, I don't do much off road type stuff (at the moment anyway), but would just like something there should I ever need it. Thanks.

8.8 rating I think my winch bolts are 12mm or 14 cant remember TBH 8.8 is the usual rated bolts it is stamped on top of the hex (remember bolts, bolts have a plain shank load bearing and then a thread not threaded all the way to the hex) 12.9 are rated higher. Cap headed bolts are quite often rated at 12.9's. talk to your local fasteners and they will set you straight.

Excellent... thank you:)

no problem always here to help. Just ask. Some LZ members have noting better to do add just hinder, generally moan and bitch about things but this is LZ and its funny to watch sometimes lol.

Thats great, cheers, will I need longer bolts, or will the standard ones be long enough anyways:confused:
for each mounting, you'll use the 2 bolts that already fix the bumper on, they're plenty long enough.
Tip: Make sure you give the ends of these a good squirt of penitrating oil or WD40 before you undo them.

They fasten into captive nuts that are held in place with a bit if tin (which rusts away on older landys) under the front of the chassis.
I would recommend taking 1 bolt out first, put the bracket at an skew and put that bolt back in through the bracket, to pick up the nut, run the bolt up just tight enough for you to still be able to move the bracket into it's rightfull place after, then take out the 2nd bolt, move the bracket into position and put the second bolt in. Once you've got the 2 main bolts in, you then need to drill the bumper for the 2 other bolts. job done!
PS. Normal 8.8 strength bolts are OK.

Thanks for all the advice, I'll get them sorted as soon as, cheers. :praise:
