Front pulley removal...

Does anyone know for sure if the front pulley can be taken off a D1 with aircon without removing the fan shroud?

I was thinking of replacing my front cover today as the fan bearing is shot but on looking at the job it seems the shroud must be off first which means draining the coolant. I wa wondering if the pulley can be pulled with the shroud in place? All I need to do is pull the cover and fit new one so don't want to make it a big job.

which pulley?

draining coolant isnt major - just stick a bucket under .

Sorry, 300tdi crankshaft pulley.

Really don't want to upset the old girl by draining her unless I have to.

hi take the top hose release slightly engine side, then release from the radiator .tip the top hose up then tighten jubilee clip engine side this way you will only lose a small amount of coolant .then you can slide out the fan shroud

Hmm, ok, seems do-able.

I'll stick back on top of the pile of jobs to do
