Front LT230 transfer box bearing

Morning all,

Just covered a good few hundred miles through France. In addition to all the oil leaks I now have a rumbling between 65 and 75mph!! Have looked at some of the older threads as I suspect too much play in front transfer box bearing. UJ's on both front and back props all free from play but there is a few mm of play on front output shaft. Definetly feels like drive train rather than wheel balance.

Seems to be easy enough to replace, and although not leaking oil at the moment (unlike the rear one!) I think this is too much play.

Am I on the right track here? Suggestions or alternative ideas welcome!

Go to go from Surrey to the Lakes on Thursday so need to sort as the rumbling is exactly at cruising speed and is not going to do the transfer box any good.

Mine has a new bearing but still has play in the flange, so I'm thinking centre diff bearings.

Whine rather that rumble, but the propshaft gets a shake on at certain speeds.

Worth checking the rubber doughnut on the rear prop shaft.

By way of an update!

Transfer box is now on the bench in the workshop.

Decided it had to come out due to excessive play in both diff and output bearings.

Plus, serious oil leaks from intermediate shaft seals, sump and high/low selector cover meant best do the job properly.

Thoroughly degreased and cleaned, all going back together this evening. Noticed that high/low selector fork is worn. Found little brass turnings in sump. Looks like it may have been badly adjusted. Pads on one side are worn down, nearly flush with main assembly. Is it worth replacing?

its not adjustable as far as box goes ,too much play in diff support bearings caused by wear or poor setting could ,what are dog teeth on the high gear like , detent for selector on side of box should be adjusted in so you cant select then wound out just enough so you can
