I have purchased a genuine front fog light kit and the instructions say you need to remove the front bumper to fit them. Has any body fitted these and do you really have to remove the bumper.I am a mechanic by trade so its not a problem doing it but i can see lots of plastic clips breaking and i,m lazy

Cheers series 3 tel:confused:

What are you fitting them to? not a series 3 obviously.

You have to remove and then you will see some outlines on the reverse of the bumper. You then have to cut out the outlines to enable the fog lights to recess and fit in the bumper.

If You Are Not Fitting Pod's Or An A Bar You Need To Remove F/bumper To Drill4 Holes Fir The Riv Nuts To Mount Two Brackets On Bumper Diaphram. Bumper Is Easier Than You Think To Remove.

I had a pair fitted last week. I cut the bumper holes & a trician friend did the wiring. He didnt touch the fuse box in the engine bay as it said to in the instructions. The cables went thru a grommet in the bulkhead on the drivers side. Make sure you fit the lights on the front of the black brackets so you can take them off to change a bulb. It took us about 2 hours

I was thinking of getting some front fogs for my Freelander, but was put off by this.

How easy is it to remove/replace a front bumper exactly (assuming a small knowledge of things mechanical)?

As an alternative, I was thinking of buying some small LED front fogs and mounting them in the slot in the body-coloured section of the front bumper, and advice on this?

I had to remove the bumper, cos the outlines of the lights are on the back of the bumper. There is only fiddly bit & thats when you pull off the cover under the wheel arch, turn the wheels on full lock to get to it. This is held on by a small black donut with a plastic pin thru the middle, you have to pull the pin out first.behind this cover there is 1 10mm vertical bolt to get the bumper off. & i suppose you dont need to refit them cos there are 2 screws that hold the wheel arch liner to the bumper.
