I've replaced 3 O/S/F drive shaft seals on my 99 TD5 but its still leaking oil, One I did myself one was fitted by a mate who's a fitter and the last one was done by the local land rover garage.

Could some one give me an idea what could be causing the seals to keep leaking ,,, hub, drive shaft ???

welcome to my(and other's) nightmare, i replaced a dozen then i went to a specialist and machined down 0.5mm from the mudshield, the problem is that by someone's mistake all the seals are all 35mm ID lately while they must be 36 cos the mud shield is 35mm ID and it 'killes' the seal at higher rotations, see this whole thread with patience it becomes more interesting from page 2's middle Ashcroft HD CV shafts and front diff seals - leaking? - Australian Land Rover Owners

Are the half shafts thicker on facelift/later D2's?

I had this same issue until I swapped the entire driveshaft in...

maybe you've got seals from the old stock, if they were corteco that's the answer, the problem is that corteco doesnt make them anymore.

I am just about to do this.fix. can you not grind the seal down to internal diameter 35mm? I have not got a seal in my hand but I assume this could be done.
