Hi,
anyone out there changed thier front disks recently on a TD5 disco. Am about to undertake this (simple?) ish task - wondered if there is anything obvious that I should be looking out for.

As alawys any pointers gratefully received.

must be amongst the easiest out there, two 12mm bolts for the caliper, two 19mm double hex bolts for the carrier and one screw for the disc, happy fitting :)

as regards to pushing the pistons back do this with a pry bar through the centre of the caliper before you remove it, or use a G glamp once its removed depends on what tools you have

afaik, they are torx type heads.
also worth buying the correct hose clamp tool and the pry tool. makes the job so much easier. i wouldnt be without my hose clamp.

looked under a td5 tother week and thought they were torx bolts.
(mind you i had drunk 6 pints of boddingtons at the time).

you sure it was'nt the citroen parked in front ?
hehe:D

Nuts securing the big end bolts are spline on a 200TDi. You ever tried to get hold of a suitable (female) spline socket in Eastbourne on a Friday afternoon?

Not a pleasant experience, let me tell you...tracked down a set of those multi-fit sockets eventually about 10 miles out of town for the not inconsiderable sum of £35.

Every car except my fondly remembered Rover 827, which was a marvel of common sense engineering courtesy Mr Honda, has had at least one "funny" tool required...the Disco is no exception!

The 827 was a bl@@dy big lump in a not bl@@dy big engine bay though...changing the cambelt was an interesting way of getting back ache!!!

It has always been like that for me with british cars (quite tall). Thats why I always had wing nuts on my bonnet hinges...any work needs doing...off with the bonnet!!! ( especially my Mini!) :):) On my old Series 1, I would climb into the engine bay and sit there and do the work!!

All I know is I'm looking at a listing on e-bay for a set of front discs and Mintex pads for a TD5 for 50 smackers plus p&p. Island Land rovers is the seller so a genuine firm.
