Hey guys,

i remember I trimmed the bottom section off the front bumper on my disco 1 300tdi.
It looks awesome from memory!

Is this possible on a 2001 Disco 2?
No fog lights to worry about...

had a search but couldn’t anything on here, there is some info on other sites but v old posts and non of the pictures load or links work.

thanks

One thing on the D2 is the washer fluid bottle hangs low in the bumper.
Not sure if this is pre or post faceliftor both. But it becomes very vulnerable.

Cheers

Yes, you can do it to a pre-Facelift D2.
You can remove all the area upto the section where the fog lights would be if fitted & the washer bottle stays (just) hidden.
The advantage is obviously a noticable improvement to the approach angle.
The disadvantage is that if you're bumper was intact previously you've wiped a few hundred pounds off the value of it as a second hand item !
If you're thinking of doing to an intact bumper for off-roading, its worth considering just selling it & getting a HD steel bumper - you might even make money.
I did it to our 2001 TD5 to hide damage I'd inherited from the previous owner & improve clearance for off-roading. I replaced the whole bumper after it got broken further - now got a "bomb proof" First Four Shadow non winch bumper (with a discrete winch mount behind it).

Cheers mate, problem is the current bumper is knackered so needs replacing with something else.

just been weighing up options of a steel one like this...

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wildbear...-/224266776289?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292

Or I have an option for a second hand one from a mate for £180 but it’s the wrong colour, so wondered if I could trim off the painted section and save £200

thanks

The Wildbear bumper looks reasonable and appears to have a good spec (only a few appear to use 5mm steel).
However, cutting your own sounds like the same "no brainer" it was for me - lol.
Beware you can still hit it & break it - lol
