Hi there,
The time has come to replace the brake pipes and hoses on my '75 SWB series 3.

So, the front brake pipe union sitting on top of the chassis is in an awkward place with tight pipe bends.

Has anyone relocated it a few inches so it sits on the vertical inside face of the chassis?

It occurred to me that the pipe bends will be less and more chance if tightening up the unions without cross threading one of them.

Just a thought, wondering if anyone has done it.

I thought so too. The good news is the new kunifer pipes are quite generous, may need a replacement for the master cylinder to union tho'.

It's the 4 way union that sits on top of the chassis section under the steering box. 3 hard brake pipes come out of it and the master cylinder feeds it - so no Flexi pipes involved.

Just struck me it is mounted in an awkward position and mounting it on the vertical inner face of the chassis might be a better option.

Got it now, OK, I was thinking of the wheel ends of those pipes. Yes it is awkward but there's a bracket on the chassis for it. If you move it you have to tap a hole to bolt it on, which is even more fiddly. Get a set of brake line bending pliers and make the bends in situe: Be wary about the new MOT requirments which inlcude something about brake modifications, OK if you support the bracket but potentially dodgy if its hanging on the pipes.
