Hi lads/ladetts! Hope you all had a throughly poo christmas! But heres to a better new year ay!! Well 2014 cnt be any worse than 2013! Can it??? Lol

I recently sold my 300tdi disco as I brought a v8 classic instead!!! I just love the noise of the ol v8 not to mention the extra power comes in handy when stuck in those sticky situations off roading!! I'm sure you know what I mean!!
she came prity much off rd preped, suspension lift, wheels, diff guards ect ect so as youd expect the bodywork isn't in the best shape with the usual off rd scrapes ect ect but mechanical wise she's absolutely amazing, engine has only done 860000 frm new with history to prove ect, starts first time everytime even on coldest morning and on lpg to boot!! Petrol tank has been removed for better clearance at the bk plus side existing exhaust so all in all in one happy camper!!! Lol

the reason for the post, well other than to show my new baby off of course! Lol is I have a bloody water leake that I just cnt seem to find!!
yep you guessed it! The passenger footwell!! Grrrrrrrr iv checked all usual suspects, window seals, door, heater is working fine so doubt matrix is at fault, iv honestly looked everywheir and tried everything i can think, iv even put silicon sealer over the window seals yet today after not driving her for a month or 2 I had the start of mould appearing on dash, seats ect, looked under passenger's footwell to find a puddle of water! And im talking a kid could quite happily play in:eek:....

have any of you got any ideas or tips???

Thanks in advance....c

water runs down a post and capillaries round beneath door seal. I know this after sealing mine from roof down.

Dose it have a sun roof ? If it dose, the drain pipe for it runs inside the A post and exits at the bottom under the decker panel and should be clipped to the body work. On my classic there is a grommet for the wiring that passes from the inside of the passenger foot well, this grommet is positioned directly below the sunroof drain pipe and was letting water into the cabin.
Moved the drain pipe and all was fine :)

Only discovered this because I had all the carpet, trim sound proofing out when I was welding up the floor. Kept getting leaks... thought I had a hole left in the floor !

Oh and welcome:):)

Thanks for the replies guys.... have tried all your suggestions so touch wood the leak has stoped! Time will tell! Lol..
she does have a sunroof but the previous owner sealed it shut and said it deffo doesn't leak but hey he was trying to sell her to me! Lol. ?

right then couple more questions for ya all, bit more serious this time tho, basically my auto box works great, kick downs spot on ect but theirs a grumbling sound when it's in D while sat stil, sort sounds like bearings have gone sound but like I say it works great so im bit unsure, dnt want to put new box in realy especially as it works so good but the noise is doing my head in and she's due mot soon, wil this affect mot?
the other thing is iv got a flashing light on my dash, right in the middle under the oil warning light, its got a..fan symbol inside a box with a wavy line at the top.. iv looked in haynes manual but it has not chapter on warning lights?? Strange I knw but iv looked soooo many times it cnt be in their!! Lol...

Anyone know what warning light it is?? Thanks guys...c

Coolant level?

Pete

Hi pete.. did think that myself but not lost any water since brought her, stil toped up to full.. it might be just a loose connection as it does go away now and then but I want to know what it means even if it is just a loose connection..
I can't get over the hayes manual doesn't have a section on warning lights!!!?????..
Haven't got owners manual so I presume its in their??

Anyone else knw what it is?.

I was thinking maybe its the gear box oil warning light maybe due to the horrible rumbling sound?? Put again level is spot on, maybe gearbox oil overheating?? Man im stuck!! Lol

come on you rr experts! I know your out their!!!! Lol

Fan symbol is the coolant light.
The sensor on mine jams a little. When I go over a bump it releases, and then all is well.
But be warned, ignore this light at your peril.

The coolant level sensor connections may be bad, or as stated, the float is sticky. The light comes on when there is no continuity, so a broken wire causes the light to come on.

Here's a weird one. Three times now in the span of three years, my light has gone on and when I checked the connection, it was fine. However, when it was happening I had no heater or power to my two cigarette lighters. After a bit the light went out and everything worked again. I ran that one by the boys at the main stealers and they were stumped.

Cheers lads, I did think it was coolant level but as ran full wasn't sure... forgot to mention the light is flashing, its not constantly on, is it ment to be permanently on? If so then bad connection is the course, plus it did go off once when I went over a sleeping policeman a wee bit to fast once!!! Lol..
so next Q wheir is the level sensor, float? In the expansion tank I presume??

Got another weir one, when it rains my indicator fuse blows every time I indicate yet if I push the hazard they work fine???? Obviously it's water getting in but I can't understand why the hazards fuse dont blow if the indicator one does.. very strange...
just hope the fuse holds out on her mot today!!! Worked on the way over so touch wood n all that!! Waiting for the garage to phone now, bitting me fingernails I tel ya!! Lol

The float is part of the cap on the expansion tank, with two wires attaching at the top of the cap. If your cap has been replaced with a standard cap (no float) then it will flash all the time.

My daily driver, a '93 LSE cost $500. It originally sold for $50,000! I've put over 85,000 miles on it. My '90 cost me $500 in traded labor.

They are not that popular here, but I'm hooked.

Great looking classic. :) Hope you get the issues sorted, and then stick a radio in that gaping dash hole. :p

And West Slope Rover, sounds like you got a couple of bargains there. :D

It's true. The '90 is badly compromised by fire starting electrics, so it's now a organ donor for the LSE. It still has great value though because I can't just run to a salvage yard and find parts like it was a Chevy or Ford.
