Hello
I've had land rovers since I first bought a V8 3-speed auto, 2-door R Rover 30 years ago. Brought it to France when we moved here to start our campsite 18 yrs ago where it was immediately stolen! Replaced it with a FR regd 2.4 VM RR which blew-up dramatically 2 years later in 1996. Purchased a 300Tdi "retro-fit" kit in UK, shipped it out and fitted it (had no workshop so the cherry tree was handy for hoisting in the engine!). That engine is still going strong though now fitted to my 1996 LR90 which I purchased with a blown engine when the R Rover monocoque finally gave up 3 yrs ago. The missus was not impressed with the 90 for shopping so we bought the 1996 Disco 300Tdi (with 7 seats and Twin pack air-con). We now use the 90 as a workhorse and weekend green-laning vehicle and have been family members of a Catalan 4X4 club for 15 yrs. We are also members of a "Trials" club which has exclusive access to 40 hectares of mountainside in the Pyrenees close to the Spanish border. We also enjoy the occasional weekend "Raid" in the mountains and hope to get sufficiently well organised to do the "Croissiere Blanche" one of these years....
We have always maintained our own vehicles for all servicing and repairs and it's great to now be able to keep a stock of (British bought) common 300 Tdi spares for both our rovers (the nearest rover dealership being 60 odd miles away)! :blah::blah::blah:
