Hi just Eden told that I will have to use spacers so that I can fit pre 2000 wheels on to my td4 2003 is this the case and if so what thickness will I need any help appreciated

Buy a set of correct wheels, cheaper than proper, safe, spacers.
Spacers need to have a spigot on them to mount the wheel on, it's a near two ton car, not a chav Corsa.

I have 2 general grabber at2 old pattern. Can't get them any more but I've been offered a very similar tread pattern tyre. Just for winter use, am I right in thinking that as long as the size, pattern are very similar I can use them on a td4

Thanks

check the actual sizes (measure the circumference). do not rely in whats written on the tyre. But best to fit all 4 the same (and new only on back)

It's all about the rolling circumference.
If they are about the same (+/- 10mm I think) they should be ok.
As always, if there's a difference put the larger circumference tyres on the rear.

You shouldn't mix makes, although it says the same size it may not be. You really need to check the circumference. Somebody did post up the tolerances recently. Personally I'd get 4 new tyres if you can.

Dunc

10mm is way to much of a difference mate. I think it's about 5mm.

Thanks
Although the tyre size is the same 215/65/16 what if the tread pattern is slightly different?

Just checked the circumference there is a 10 mm difference if I put these on the back will I get away with it?

It isn't recommended at all, but if you put the bigger ones on the rear you might get away with it for a while.
As in all things, there is always the old lady who smoked 120 a day and lived till 100, but just be aware of potential damage and check your VCU regularly.

May be a stupid question but is that measurement the tyre on its rim and inflated or just loose?
might make all the difference ;)
