After weeks, no months looking for the right car I have seen and driven loads of Mark1 and 2 Freelanders and been let down a number of times. So I have now decided to try a 2005 Discovery 3 SE with MOT until December this year. It"s a local car to me, I can walk there in 10 minutes with reasonable mileage. So help me out. Should I, or shouldn"t I risk it. What do you think.
cheers all.

Is it cheap and can you fix it yourself?
Fixing a D3/4?

You will need a ramp?? Or a very understanding cheap garage??

Yes! The add ons can be replaced (££) but anymore than that? Ramp are needed!

Kev

NB: im good with 3 garages that deal with 4x4! And seen and heard the complexities of D3/4.

Very nice to drive though 👌

They are very different vehicles, especially with regard to maintenance.
Unless it is very cheap you need as much service history as possible.

Plus 1 as also owned a FL1 and my current landy is a D3 , I did do a buyers guide which hopefully is useful to u

If u intend to do the work yourself as mentioned with regards to ramps, plus a decent scanner , multimeter , good range of tools , they are indeed very nice to drive but do need alot more maintenance than a FL1 , have to count for the insurance , tax , D3 will also wear out the brakes and suspension a lot quicker than a FL1 due to there weight

Thanks gstuart. All the words of wisdom do help and as a consequence I have decided Not to buy the D3 and instead I"ve bought a 2005 Freelander 3 Door Sport Auto. There was no way I going on for 83 years of age could do anything except watch someone else do all the hard work. Cheers
