Hi All,

I have a 98 Freelander diesel which has given me hours of problems recently after a valve went resulting in a new head etc. Now the turbo keeps dropping in and out. The EMS light comes on and the computer says I have an over-pressure problem. When I start in the mroning the light comes on and I have no power going up my local hill, when I go down the other side the light goes out and power is restored until I idle the engine again - the light then comes on and no power etc.

Has anybody any idea where to start as the garage is looking and syaing the need to start replacing sensors one by one at a cost of hundered for each with no guarantee that this is the cause?

Grateful in anticipation of advice.

fook that - it sounds like they dont know wot the problem is - and are getting you to fund it all.
first thoughts - if yu have no power going up hill, but ok going down - sounds like it could be throttle position or ems problem. First thing is to phone around and get a garage that does know its stuff.
whereabouts are you based? Coz if you told us that, someone mite know of a good garage to help.

I live near Chichester, West Sussex.

Just as an additional note once the EMS warning light goes out and the turbo seems to function it is fine going up hills, then when it idles or the light comes back on the power goes again.
