Freelander td4 recommission

I have just bought a 05 td4 low owned (2) low miles 100,000
But it’s not turned a wheel in 4 years
It’s getting tested tomorrow and delivered to myself soon after what’s the process of making sure no sill faults occur? and the oil in all the running gear change or check ? I will be doing the engine fuel air and pcv But would rather not spend a fortune
The brakes have been done for the test And apparently the tyres are all ok ????

any thoughts?

After four years of sitting those "okay" tyres are probably starting to suffer from dry rot and cracks. Brakes, brake fluids (including clutch fluid) and coolant will probably be well overdue for a check and change, too. Check in the boot for swiiming pools in the tool well.

I have got my own bundle of joy a 06 sport Freelander
But having to use it for work with the current situation ‍

And she’s taking a beating !
Stop starting and a lot of ticking over
My BIG BIG plan is to run the new one for 4m and keep it for parts
I am not carrying weight Towing or long fast journeys so I am ok with taking a chance on the tyres
It makes sense to do the clutch flush .
It’s as dry as a bone been sat in a garage (previous owner died) so it will probably flood first time it rains
I shall put some pictures on when it arrives

If it's been sitting for four years, you most likely will have some issues.

Fuel system will be kaputt.
If it's been sitting on wheels, the tyres will need changing. They might look ok but will definitely shake after some speed.

Even if it runs I would put some money aside for the hoses, fluids, fuel pumps etc.

Given the propensity of the Freelander for rear brakes seizing if left standing for more than 8 days...I hate to think what it must have taken to get it out of the garage to even start work on the brakes!

I am going to do the fluids so will check the coolant hoses for cracks.
I have got all the service parts and as long as it runs ok I will change the tyres but would like to get a few miles in to it before I spend money on tyres, I will at a push take my wheels from my sport if it’s own are dangerous But would rather use it as is

My 2001 k series sat on the drive for 4 years when I was working from home. The tyres looked great, but I didn't trust them, so changed all 5. Brakes were rusty so they were changed too. I gave it a service myself, but had the garage change the diff and gearbox oil. I also flushed the coolant system thoroughly before bleeding and topping it back up with fresh coolant. Bought a new battery, cleaned the plethora of cobwebs from inside and off to the MOT centre. She passed with one advisory - no wiper fluid. I'd forgotten the most basic thing to change...

Totally messed
Basically the seller bit off more then he could chew can’t get the time to do the MOT
so still looking for a 3 door Freelander
