Hi, I bought my freelander last year, I drove off and noticed it was noisy, turns out it was the fuel pump. I got used to it, it wasn't a landrover part. That fuel pump just went and I replaced it, the mechanic ordered a Meat & Doria part in line pump said BMW.ROVER on sticker, suitalble to O.E.M Piebirg 72278280. Now the noise is horrendous! Sounds like a permanent car horn when I drive, I had that part replaced with the same part and same make as they thought the first one might be faulty but the noise was the same. The mechanic said he doesn't know what to do, shall I get a landrover in line pump and filter? What do I do, can anyone help please, I know nothing about cars and have already spent €210 on a part and getting it fitted twice!

You need to replace the fuel pump by the sounds of it. Are the filters being replaced at the same time. A decent pump lasts years. A cheap pump lasts 1 year tops. I've never heard of Meat and potatoes as a pump make. It doesn't sound like a quality part to me. It should be silent.

Thank you, good advise! I need the real deal a landrover in line pump, have been investigating today and that's what everyone says.

I was being cheap as they are pricey, do you think I should go for new or find a second hand landrover pump for a scrap dealer?
