Freelander Tailgate problems

Hi there,
Can anybody give some advice regarding operation of the rear tailgate and window assembly as mine is stuck !
The tailgate will open but the glass does not drop down enough for the door to open fully. The switch will not operate the window and gives a "beep" when pressed to the down position. I've tried diconnecting the battery and reconnecting to reset the window but to no avail.
The alarm doesn't give a warning beep to say a window/door is open and the rear wash/wipe doesn't work

Are the fuses ok ?

Have you tried lowering it from outside the vehicle~? press and hold unlock button on remote (2 seconds), the tail door glass should fully lower.
To raise, insert key into taildoor handle and turn clockwise.

Hi there,
Have checked the fuse and tried lowering the window from the outside with the remote and also raising it using the key. Unfortunately my wife forgot about it this morning and opened the tailgate (quite how the window didn't break is a miracle in itself), so I'm now stuck with a tailgate that can't be closed !! And it raining.

I'm thinking there may be a relay that controls the rear windows poistion as mine will automatically go up if I release the down button before it's half way down. So, you may want to check if a relay exists. If it does, is it faulty? It's probably the same size as the indicator relay, about an inch cube.
