Freelander reverse lights on

Hi guys

I have two problems with my wife's 52 Freelander ES.

Firstly, the HDC warning light has come on and I have ssen that is may be the brake switch by the brake pedal and I will pick up a new one to see if that solves the problem.

Secondly, The reverse lights are perminently on when I switch the ignition on. (I have only been able to find problems on here with reverse lights not coming on). Only noticed this prob when the HDC light came on.

Could there be a common cause for both these problems.

I would say the reverse light switch is broken or the wires are broken somewhere in the circuit, this will most likely be causing the hdc fault also!

Hi EG

Having read your post, I have been out and tried putting the gearstick in and out of reverse a few times the reverse lights and HDC go off together.

It sound like the reverse light switch is damaged so I will replace it and hopefully solve the problem. I will post the result.

Hi Col,

I was checking internet because i have a problem with my 2002 Freelander.
Reverse lights on at the same time as the HDC light, exactly the same as your problem.

It may be the reverse switch at the gearbox or the HDC switch in de shifter,

Since we only have this Freelander 1 week i don't have any electric sceme yet. Getting a Haynes asap!

Do you solve the problem yet?
Hope you can help me with info.
