Freelander on classic or limited insurance?

Hi guys,

The other half has now got her new car and I have another car meaning the Freelander is now a spare vehicle. I want to keep it for general use (not befitting of my clean new car that work people have to see!) like lugging around rubbish etc

That means I now need to insure it and want to know if any one has any experience of a Freelander on a classic/specialist/ limited use policy?

Can't really justify a full several hundred pounds a year policy but a few hundred would be ok

Any tips?

Mines on limited miles. From what I've seen they start at 2500 miles and increase by 2500 miles thereafter. You may find linking your Freelanders insurance to one of the other vehicles gives you a betterer discount.
 
My milage is limited an I am on an aviva multicar policy. Insurance for the hippo comes out about £35 a month, me as main driver 3 years ncd missus is named and so is step-daughters hubby who has only had a licence for 2years. Went up by a tenner a month to add him!
 
Hi guys, thanks for the ideas I will look into it. Some how even with 5 years NCB it always seems to cost me a fortune to insure a car! I will report back
 
Inner city post codes are the killer. I pay £400 to £500 pa. 14 years NC. 5k PA mileage max no claims. 40 years old and I still get my pants pulled down...

but like hippo says your Road tax costs just as much knower days.
 
Jedi, you could be on to something there I do live quite central. I have had so absolutely ridiculous quotes today and 1 half decent one at £295 for the year. I may go with that but honestly thought I would be able to get it down closer to £200. It's daylight robbery for a FL that will like be driven a few days a month at most.

Tried all the usual players and Lancaster and flux had the worst prices at almost 1000!

Maybe it's time to get a defender or old disco to get a classic policy

I am with the nodding dog and I went online because they gave me a quote of £376
I found out a cheaper quote of £302.10 with them I rang them and they matched it and I live in a city
 
Ok chaps the freeby is back on the road. Managed to get a really good deal on a 3k miles policy for only £230 ish. That will do me but it was painful to find! If anyone is interested it's a company called academy.

Thanks for all the help chaps! Now to put the prop back on and have some fun / load it with old bricks for the tip :)
 
When they give you the price ask them if they know why the price is so high. It may be because yer parking on the street instead of a drive, or garage. No security items etc.
