Hi to all.

I am new to this. I was wondering where I can find the manual(download). And also i have some probs with my steering wheel. When it rains and I have a splush in to the water the wheel comes heavy.!
Is it easy to join the stop lights of the bumber with the other ones?

Thanks to you all.

Welcome to the forum newby !

If you do a search on this forum, you'll find a link to something called RAVE CD, which you can download. This is the complete landrover manual and covers workshop procedures, accessory fitting, and includes the end user manual. I think the website is greenoval.com, but just do a search and you'll find the download. If you don't fancy that, look on ebay and there's load of copies for sale on there. Finally, if you don't fancy paying a fiver, send me a pm with your home address on and I'll try and copy the cd's I have.

The steering going heavy when the car is wet could be down to a loose auxiliary drive belt, which drives the power steering pump. when it gets wet, it can slip and then doesn't provide as much assistance as it should. Fairly easy to check, usually I just make sure I can twist the longest run of the belt through 90 degrees, but no more. There is a more involved technical method, but this has never let me down, touch wood....

Don't join the bumper lights to the higher ones as you will get a back feed when your foglights are on, meaning your brake lights will be permanently on when your foglights are on, likewise your foglights will come on every time you brake. You could however, use an intermediate relay to prevent the back feed, but you would still effectively have fog lights on every time you brake.

It is possible to modify the lamp holders and wiring such that the higher level lamps (i.e. mounted in the rear wings) become the tail and stop lights, and the bumper lights become the fog lights. electrically this is quite easy to do, and just involves identifying the right colour cables, cutting and diverting the three circuits. as for the mechanical side of fitting the tail/stop bulb into the lamp holder should be simple, but you will have to modify the tracks on the circuit to provide two circuits (tail and stop).

A couple of years ago, there was a thread on here about doing this modification, but I haven't been able to find it by searching, so you'll have to have a trawl through the old threads.

The wiring itself is quite simple once you have the inner cover out of the boot, as the loom is just in front of you. Did the electrics for my towbar in under an hour, and also fitted a reversing buzzer that only comes on in reverse when the hazard lights are on, to remind pedestrians and small children to get out of the way.

If you do carry out this modification, be careful if you have a tow bar fitted as you could inadvertently change the wiring configuration to the tow bar.

Good Luck, and welcome again

top link nigel 8, the write up is pretty crystal clear, almost worth trying if mine wasn't full of tools and materials, and would take an hour to clear out.

hopefully this will help acidflame with what he is looking for.
