Looking for some advice.

I have 2003 Freelander with a KV6 gas engine that the heads have gone in. I've heard some people have replaced these engines with a diesel. I'm wondering which engine is the best one and if anyone has done it how to do it my self. I was thinking of a TD4.

this would be a complete nightmare. of course it could be done, but in terms of time and money, would be more effective to just buy a td4.

consider changing not only the engine, but the fuel system, ecu's, drivetrain, wiring looms just for starters

Would love to know where you heard that cause a few people on here have looked into it, some even buying donor cars & gave up on the idea when they realised what was involved.

yu cud try a Rover 220 turbo lump - that is supposed to be relatively easy, but as yu say it is gas powered , yu might be over the pond and that might be more difficult.

Thanks for the info. and yes i'm in Canada so buying the diesel option wasn't available in the first place. I've heard of a few people around here swapping out their crap KV6's and replacing them with a Diesel. wasn't sure if it was with a TD4 or a different model engine. There is a guy in Alberta that I've been told buy's parts and ship's them over here from the UK and has bought a few Diesel engines. I like my Freelander but don't know if it's worth rebuilding the engine and trying to modify the cylinders so they don't drop if it over heats or do the conversion to diesel. any way thanks for the info.
