Is there a way to take the gearbox filler plug out when an 8mm allen key spins inside it? The inside of the plug is rounded and I'm having trouble taking it out. Any ideas? Thanks
Thanks, I will give that a go.

cut straight and make the bolt lift with a big scredriver http://www.artsound.gr/catalog/images/ihi/as28051.jpgIs there a way to take the gearbox filler plug out when an 8mm allen key spins inside it? The inside of the plug is rounded and I'm having trouble taking it out. Any ideas? Thanks
There is no room to get a screwdriver to it. Its the filler plug I'm trying to get out.cut straight and make the bolt lift with a big scredriver http://www.artsound.gr/catalog/images/ihi/as28051.jpg
It is for the PG1 box. I assumed the OP was talking about the Getreg box fitted to the TD4 Freelander. That uses a hex key to release it.I may be wrong but the g'box drain plug is a 3/8 square drive and fits right onto a 3/8 ratchet. Isn't the g'box filler plug the same?
another trick is to get a bigger Allen key and grind the edges of the key down a bit to make a wedge like Allen key then bang it in with a hammer but do not use to much force you could crack the casing and as it goes deeper in it acts like a wedge then add a bit of heat and it should come out I have done this before .
