hey everybody, newbie here signing on for parents who lack general pc no how,
they just bought a s reg 1.8 16v freelander,
its been sitting round since julky so the only drive its had was its journey from previous owner to our house, plus a little cruise around to test it out
the clutch has very low biting point, as it should have,
but the gears are intermittantly difficult to get, i would have said this was cable adjustment required but looks like it has hydraulic clutch and no cable???
is it posible to adjust at all? also how easy is it to change gearbox oil, would that be worth a shot too?
thanks to all, looks like a good forum
from ian

Welcome Ian
The gearbox oil check/top up needs the use of the diagnostic kit at a dealers! - or shd do!

Clutch (from other posts) appears to be a sealed system and should be changed as a complete system - ie clutch, master and slave cylinders.

Have a search under "clutch" and see wot comes up.

Good luck

Hi nashlander and welcome to the farm...Sounds like the clutch slave needs bleeding or as mr flopster says maybe the cylinder is on its way out worth a bleed 1st good luck feller...:)

ok guys thanks for that,
not being funny but this car sounds like its gonnabe a pain in the "rear end" already,
so for replacement the whole system needs doing, do you guys know if there is any way to carry out an adjustment? iwouldnt have fort so being a hydraulic system but you never know.
thanks again guys

dang, i just read another thread that says there isnt adjustment, oh pants, gonna get it booked in to bleed the system

update for you funny guys
parents went to trade in/px the freelander after a) all comments about how sh*t they are on here plus b) mechanic who was gonna do the work said they are a bunch of crap,
so gets to the garage to px, fine mr and mrs ill just do hpi check.........
the car is worth £800 coz its a cat d right off
parents payed over £2000 for that heap of sh*t
they ran like feck back to the guy they got it off and hes gona sort it out pronto due to he doesnt want his mssus to find out hes a c*ck
so land rover ownership time in this family, under a month
who knoes whats gonna happen, may find a td4? if thats what they are called as adviced this the best landy to go for for towing.
thanks to everyone, you guys seem better than the vauxhall ot on vxon.co.uk
