Since my last post the car has driven several hundred miles without an issue so hopefully I have it sorted this time but I don't understand why it happened so I'm still a bit cautious. The contactor should be held closed by the latching relay to prevent the issue, I guess time will tell if it is fully sorted.
Anyhow I still love driving it and even managed to adjust the rev counter to read approx the correct rpm, so now when I'm in 5th gear the rev counter needle pretty much follows the speedo needle. This may not be perfect but it doesn't matter as it's close enough to keep me happy.
Last week I took the car to a church mens meeting/BBQ where lots of cars and motorbikes of all shapes, sizes and ages were brought.

I'm parked top left in the photo beside a DeLorean but I had to open the bonnet to raise any interest at all. Everyone was very confused when they first looked and it caused a lot of discussion.
Today I used it for the purpose it was built.

I hooked up the trailer and drove to Lurgan which is about 5 miles from home, did the Lidl shop with SWMBO then stopped for a ton of blinding After offloading the shopping I used the blinding to fill pot holes in the lane.
Living at the end of a long lane (approx 300m) gives us amazing privacy and we love the location but keeping the grass down and filling pot holes is a never ending job. I had used crusher run previously which is good for deep holes but a lot of the stones in the mix were bigger than I like. It was probably one of them that cut SMBO's tyre a couple of weeks ago so I'm now trying blinding to see how it goes.
I guess the ideal option would be larger stones to fill deep holes then blinding over the top but that's not really practical when the holes are not very deep.
