Freelander engine is mounted transverse, so personaly dont think it would work as 200 is an inline. The mountings are not going to work. the 1.8 is a rover lump, so couldnt you get a diesel engine from a breaker and fit that?

L series diesel, but personally I wouldn't bother. You can get a reasonable one for £1500- 2000 so why go through the hassle? Avoid the 1.8 petrol anyway..

Trattor tdi would be too tall. As above, don't even bother. Int worth the hassel. Buy a working Freelander instead.

what mingy said.

changing from petrol to diesel just isn't that simple. as well as the obvious like engine and fuel tank, the ecu's need changing, the wiring loom needs changing, the list goes on and on.

if you want a diesel, buy a diesel

My advice is: given you've been offered this, whats the price? Free or costing you?

If it's a very good price or free take it. Get another 1.8 from breakers and put it in, then you've got a working Freelander to sell on if thats what you want to do. Your gonna make more money selling it on that way!!

You can then try and sell the old engine for parts/scrap and make a few pounds on that.

Sell your spare 200 engine unless your in love with it...!

Take all your money you've made and see about getting the diesel model if that's what you want?

TD4 Mileage is only about 10 miles better than petrol and if your handy wif the K-Series engines then nothing much to fear........

But if your set on a diesel I'd do the above and buy one. I can understand why you've asked but if it dont fit take the next best option:)

£200!! Your mad to walk away from that, you can pick up an engine for around £400, a few hours to drop it in and bang £1500 £2000 easy! and if it's in really good nic who knows!?

Then selling on your 200, whats that worth £1K?

Looks like to me you could walk away with £3K or more for a few hours of work............!

Frig if I lived anywhere even remotely close to ya I'd take it off you.

You must be a loooooon to turn that sort of cash down!

£200 is very very cheap.

I agree, would be mad to let it go for £200. Would make sense to buy it for breaking, i.e. sell the parts on ebay etc. The body alone would be worth at least £100 in scrap value. Add the profit from the parts and you're in the money.
