Freelander 2 (LR2) Freelander 2 rear wiper problem

Hi all

This is first post, thank you in advance all!

The rear wiper motor stopped working - I replaced it with a new one - on a Freelander 2 2013.

Unfortunately, its not been successful....

The rear wiper works but:
- Won't return to the parked position - instead stops randomly on the arc.
- Only has on speed on either location on the steering column wand - and stops after 3-5 arcs and then needs to be turned off and then on again?!

So far I have tried:

Turning engine off / disconnecting the rear wiper motor / removing fuses and relays then reconnecting.
This has had no effect.

Any advice will be greatly received!

What part number did you fit and where did you get it from?

New or used?

Hi Bud,

Part was new - Valeo 579745 Wiper Motor.

I checked the connections etc again since and had no change in behaviour?

I've come across something similar on my FL2. It seems there are at least TWO wiper motor/gearbox assemblies with subtly different internal wiring, but same mounts and electrical hook-up. With mine the wrong wiper assy just blew a fuse.
If you got your wiper assy from a motor factor you may have to give him the VIN number of your vehicle to get the correct one.

Check the VIN number of your FL2. If the last 8 digits are DH000001, or greater, you need part number LR039788.

But you do have the part I'm looking for

Hi.
I realise this was 18 months ago but did you get to the bottom of what the issue was with the rear wiper motor? I have exactly the same issue, I have replaced the motor and checked the fuses but still no luck.
