Freelander 2 engine cutting out

Hi,
I have a freelander 2 2009 2.2 td4,
Yesterday as I went round a corner I lost power,
Message on dash was reduced engine performance,
I turned it of and back on and all was fine,
Couple of miles down the road going up a slight hill it just died, managed to star back up but struggled,
Seems to be when on a slight hill under load,
Had AA come out and read the codes and I think it was p0088, fuel pressure?
But I am now still no closer to getting it repaired as being the Christmas period etc.
He suggested fuel filter or sensor but I did have a full service 2months ago where the fuel filter should have been changed,
If you drive it very gently it doesn't go into limp mode,
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Fuel filter first port of call, is the fuel gauge inaccurate and you are low on fuel?

Fuel gauge seems fine and it has about 3/4 of fuel,

They may have fitted a cr*p fool filter or blagged it was changed when it wasn't.
