Hello had a knocking when turning right and when it was in for the MOT and up on the ramp i could see the roll bar was off center and you could see where it had been fouling the support strutt.

Garage said it was the roll bar had rusted away which once it was off was clear it had worn the bar down and you could see a mark where the bushes had been.

So thats been changed out but no new inner bushes. Its still knocking not as much but still noticeable.

I have ordered new bushed and bolts in the hope that this traps the bar more to stop it hitting the struts on turning.

Could this also be something to do with the link bars and has anyone else had this issue.

Working through anything i think it can be but wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this

thanks

Tom

The bar moves because the plastic location rings crack and fall off. The easiest fix is to set the bar central then hold it in place with a couple of worm drive clips (hose clips)
These do a decent job of keeping the bar central.
The drop links are also a source of knocks and clicks. Avoid cheap Ebay specials. I use Lemforder or Delphi to ensure quality.

I've got a similar knocking sound on my 98 FL 2.0
Swapped out the ARB DL which improved it but not 100%
I did notice the ARB has been moving.
There are marks either side of the bushes to show it's been sliding.
Any ideas?
Sorry for the slight hijack
Cheers

As @Nodge68 says, it's the locating clips that have broken. Mine does this as well. Going to take a look and replace the bushes and see where the locators should be, then tie it down with some clips.
When I get chance, it's been doing it for years!

With the help of Nodge I've done mine ,bushes changed ,clips in place and both links changed as one had snapped.managed to do mine without dropping the front subframe and its all nice and tight without the knocks .
