New fuel tank cradle in. Wasn't the most pleasant job have to say...Subframe has to come down to get old cradle out and new in. And lot's of rust and dirt in my mouth and ears.

Got it tracked today and it drives straight and nice again. Important thing to get done if suspension related parts are loosened and/or replaced.

The first deer hunting trip for this season. Freelander drives very nice. Coming back home in dark and found the osram nightbreakers quite good in high beams.

Washed the car and changed engine oil & filter. Mobil Super 3000 5w-40 fully syntethic for these old & high mileage engines.

Changed the diesel pump and filter. Just to know when they are changed last time. Straightforward job. Someone before my ownership had already snapped both bolts holding the cradle and made new ones. So I didn't have to snap them..

The surface rust in fenders is something that I will take care during the winter.

Preparing for the coming winter. Studded tyres for maximum grip. Also found oem Freelander roof bars, almost unused for 30€.

Hello Stance - Nice work

It looks like your engine is running very cool from the pictures. Is your thermostat being lazy perhaps? If the answer is yes, how is your interior heating? I am interested to know since I have good interior heat but the engine temperature gauge is showing virtually nothing...

Thanks!

Yes the temp gauge stays at 1/4 when driving on highways. When driving slowly on gravel it usually climbs to middle. I have been planning to do thermostat mod but haven't had the motivation yet.

I still get the cabin heat very hot, so interior heating is not a problem. I have the fuel burning heater and it works, that probably helps in winter.

Started to hear very light knocking sound from right front corner when driving slowly on dirt roads. Today investigated and as I guessed it was the drop link; the upper joint had some play in it. My local parts dealer didn't have Meyle HD drop links so had to buy a pair of TRW drop links. Ordered a pair of Meyle HD drop links though, so they will be ready, not if, but when the next time comes

Old drop link bolts didn't fight me, so installation was easy and fast.
