Freelander 1 Freelander 1 juddering taking up drive

Hoping someone can help, I've searched but can't find anything specific.

My freelander has deloped an issue where it will judder a bit when taking up drive in first. It's recently had a reconditioned VCU so I'm hoping it's not that. Any ideas?

Correctly position support bearings at 90 to the centre line as shown at points 'A' and 'B' ,tighten rear then front bolts to 28 Nm.

Ah. I'll check that. Thanks.

When I changed gear today my clutch stuck down. It still engaged so I'm hoping that the creaky pedal just needs some grease. I pulled it back up and it seems to work fine now. I didn't know if this would have anything to do with it...

Sounds like the clutch is on its way out, or the bracket holding the clutch release - is it a petrol or a diesel? (sorry, being lazy.)

Sticking down is a bad sign usually, especially when combined with the juddering.
If it's a TD4 it could mean that the hydraulics have burst and taken the release and clutch with it.

It's an 02 td4, I was worried about it but it had a new one in December just before I bought it. I pulled the pedal up again and it's been ok since. The pedal is creaky so could it be a lack of grease on the mechanism?
