Freelander 1 Freelander 1 diagnostics - What actually works?

I used the Delphi clone software with the WOW interface, I still use this occasionally on my FL2.

The Icarsoft i930 is ok, but is of limited use really, giving just basic codes, except for the automatic box, where it doesn't even connect.

If I still had a FL1, I'd be looking into the Pscan.
Having a FL2, I now use SDD with a Mongoose adapter, which gives dealer level diagnostics and programming, however its of no use to for the FL1.
Hi
I have a Freelander 2 what's the sdd and mongoose adapter - where can I get more info please? I'm after a diagnostic tool to change some settings (auto lock specifically) and think this is what Im after.

Thanks

Sdd is the diagnostic software lr main dealers use. Look over ere:

Thank you - That's increibly useful and just what I'm after. Appreciated! 👍🙂

By far the cheapest option is a a knockoff delphi ds150 interface from China with dodgy software installed on an old laptop. These range from £25 to £65, the more money you spend, the better the interface you get.

Once setup this will provide full diagnostic access to all of the freelander's systems.

Can anybody confirm that i can read Injector Corrections values with DS-150 clone? What software do you use with it for Freelander 1's?

Freelander 2004 with M47 diesel engine. Need injectors corrections and abs :) Thanks for info.

I'm almost certain that my FL1 2.5 KV6 NAS has the Siemens system. Could someone confirm this for me?

I'm still new to this, but I'm trying to learn and soon I'll be helping instead of asking. Thanks to everyone for their patience and assistance!

I'm researching a scanner so I can retrieve error codes from my ride, as it's currently not running...

Would the Pscan not work then!?

Amazon product

Has anyone ever used one of these? Do you think it would work?

Very welcome for the help!

A KV6 is OBD2 compliant, so any generic OBD2 reader will give you engine trouble codes.
For full vehicle codes you'll need an LR specific code reader like any of the Icarsoft LR readers, or pscan or many of other LR specific readers on the market.

@pscan.eu replied to me in private and helped me conclude that my FL1 is the NAS model (Siemens MS43 ECU).

So, I downloaded the ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTICS manual for the SIEMENS MS43 ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM of the Freelander 2005 MY and found the following information:

"The Freelander Petrol Engine Management System (EMS) for North American Specification vehicles consists of the Siemens MS43 ECM controlling the 2.5L KV6 engine. The Engine Control Module (ECM) uses the inputs from sensors to control engine performance and restrict emissions in line with Onboard Diagnostics II (OBDII). These sensors include a Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor, Throttle Position (TP) sensor, Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor, and Oxygen (O2) sensors. The ECM also receives vehicle data, such as road speed from other control modules. The Central Processor Unit (CPU) within the ECM processes all of these inputs, applies correction factors, such as short and long-term fuel trim, and issues commands to the engine actuators, injection valves, and coils."

I'll search for some of these generics to finally try to diagnose what's happening with my spacecraft.

Thanks for the clarification, Nodgle, and to everyone, Namaste!

I am about 99% sure that pscan is going to talk to almost every ECU on a NA spec Freelander 1 just the same as a European one, so you'll get ABS, SRS, CCU, Jatco transmission, and, that it will talk to the Siemens MS43 but only in OBD2 mode.

I think that I will have to get an MS43 ECU sent over from USA so that I can crack that one as well. It's not going to get me a lot of sales but I'm determined that there won't be a better tool for the FL1.

Just want to confirm that Delphi clone can access almost all modules and features on 2004 TD4 (204D3 112HP), but sadly can not read Fuel trim (injector corrections) and cylinder roughness :( I've tried Autocom, Delphi and WOW software, each on same firmware, everything works perfect but live data for Fuel trim always read 0 :(

I wonder why only those two test do not work? Maybe pscan.eu can say something about it? Does pscan can read Fuel trim values?

Edit: It can read but sadly im poor and pscan tool is almost 10% value of my car :)

just to add my +1 for pscan.eu - it also enables re-mapping of the MEMS3 ECU (if you have a petrol).

For me, it is a complete no-brainer, as I have a fleet of 90s and early 00s MG Rover products that it also works well on! :D

tell me which device can also read the blocks of the Freelander 1 Td4 automatic transmission (2002)? I did not find p-scan on sale here ( But it's a Delphi DS150. Should I buy it? What is the cost of the P-scan and is it possible to send it to France (Calais, Boulogne surmer, my father will be there soon and will be there for 2 weeks)
Thanks

It took me a lot longer than it should have, but, MS43 is now supported. This ECU does have basic OBD2 support, but, connecting to it using the proprietary Landrover protocol (which pscan now has) reads significantly more data.
