Freelander 1 brake lights sticking.

Off the top of my head, I don't know mate, but the switch is easily removed, to have a play with it, its a 1/4 turn counter clockwise IIRC on a bracket at the back of the pedal box, then it's a simple tanged plug, press the catch to release it, But be ware there isn't a lot of slack on the cable so you'll have to undo the plug under the dash rather than taking the switch out to where you can easily see it.

It's not monumental, just a bit of a faff to get at, drivers door open, drivers seat all the way back, put your back on drivers footwell eyes looking up at dash underside with your phone lying facedown on the carpet with the light on pointing upwards once it's out and in your hands you could probably clean it up and lubricate it with WD40 or similar and get it stroking freely. Failing which they are inexpensive and easily fitted. From memory, there are visible plastic hooks on the outside of the casing so you can split it apart and get inside the switch, but I haven't looked at one in ages so I may be wrong. Give it a go and let us know how you get on.

I'm sure the switch calibrates itself when it's first installed, or I could be getting confused with other vehicles there, but it's actually quite common for brake light switches to ratchet to the correct location when first installed.
