Hi Guys and Gals just bought my first series with FWH but one will engage and the other wont! is there a way of freeing the stubborn one up? sorry if this has been covered before.

Most are Fairey or AVM....don't know much about the automatic ones.

The ones I've had you just remove the end cover and the innards pull straight out. If you want to remove the whole body, take the crown nut off in the centre and undo the bolts around the outside and it just pulls off.

They're pretty simple and anything broken will be obvious, otherwise it's probably just a case of clean up, grease and replace.

not necessarily, easy way to check quickly if you can remember :p

were they round or did they have a raised bar in the centre ? The fairey ones don't have the bar in the centre you turn the outside edge of the hub instead of the bit in the centre

Ah they've got a bar in the middle.

I have Avm on mine and had them on my Nissan aswell. They are solid and easy to fix. Seriously though if it is turning from 2 - 4 but not engaging hit it a tap with a mallet cause they do stick if not changed for a while.

And don't forget to occasionally run with the hubs in 4wd but the transfer box in 2wd (or 4wd if you're on loose or mud) it'll keep the lubricant moving around the swivels and diff and ensure your top swivel bush is kept oiled.

Could be super winch ones my old un had them, and they were rather simple!!! (It will say super winch on them if they are though so probs not!)

Yup AVM a little tickle and some grips and they turned! now just got to sort another gearbox 3rd is non existent wonder if its got something to do with the overdrive?
