Take the nut off and drive down a rattly green lane/few kerbs etc, usually works but ends in death of driver :D

Hahaha, that's the way to go but doesn't always kill the driver. I was driving mine for ages with a slightly sloppy feel to the steering, checked all the ball joints, box backlash, column UJ's but couldn't find where the slop was then by chance found drop arm was loose:eek: Was able to spin the nut in my fingers!

Seriously though a method I have heard of but not tried is to loosen drop arm nut then place front wheel next to a kerb and turn the wheel back and forth but suspect there is a risk of taking a tyre off the rim!

I battled with mine for a while, loosened the nut, parked car next to a wall, got brother to rock the steering vigorously whilst I beat the drop arm with a lump hammer

After around 10 minutes of swearing it shifted!
