Found a hole on my 90 pickup, cant find what part of the truck its on is called?
This is passenger side just after the battery box, can i just patch it, (weld or rivet or bolt) or buy a whole new piece???
any information gladly accepted.

Try YRM. That looks like the part of the tub that fastens to the rear outrigger. Try looking for images of the tub upside down.

I am relatively new to this and know little about the body. I think I have seen images of this section repaired, so you may be able to search defender 90 rear outrigger repair, etc. Hopefully you can find inspiration!

What is the other side of it? Is it the seatbelt mounting bracket with the inertia reel bolted to the other side through the tub? If it is you can just rivet a plat over it and redrill for the seatbelt bracket as it is not load bearing the seatbelt is bolted to the bracket pictures for strength and the Ali panel you can see is sandwiched between it. If it is not the seatbelt I would guess as above the mounting point with the bulkhead. If that is the case second having a look at yrm website for tub repair panels.

Yes, it's where the steel upstand from the outrigger secures the front of the tub to the chassis. The inertia real if the seat belt is also on those bolts so that the seat belt has a steel connection to the chassis and isn't just bolted to an ali panel. While the seat belt may still have a solid connection I think the fact that the body mounting has rotted away will be an MOT fail. Don't know for sure though. As has been said, YRM do a galvanised steel repair section for the front of the tub.

I 'found' an alloy road sign and cut some patches out which I riverted in place.
The MOT man didn't see the rot which was there for at least 3 years before I saw it. I only noticed it when I was cleaning up behind the seats and fitting some sound dampening mat.

I've since seen this issue of 3 or 4 other 300tdi's of the same era (mid 90's), as far as I know its very common. The YRM panels do make a lot of sense but patches and plenty of underseal is a lot cheaper :)

I have repaired it with 2mm s/s plate, it was on the panel just below the mounts, ill try and get a picture of it tonight.

Absolute classic place. Electrochemical corrosion around seat belt mount. If you've got it there I suspect you'll have it all around the seat box as this is pretty common. When you put the repair section in make sure you use the sticky back foam YRM sells to make a new barrier between the two metals.
