"On reflection, I believe i had stopped and the car behind ran into me!"

I'd be surprised if the old bill have any record of it! My dad got knocked off the road by an artic a few years ago. No injuries to either party, so they didn't record it, even though his car was a near write off.

The dealer will be on traders insurance, and may well want to avoid a claim as well. Perhaps suggest you go knock for knock with them first?

no proof its not my fault that I hit them, would pay cash and get it sorted with out using my insurance, no claimes etc. what we reckon for the light then , £200,£400?

Police just rang and they say that they cant do anything becuase they cant tell who it is and insurance will have to sort it.

trouble is the astra was owned by the dealer so I can see this getting pricey!

If they try taking ****- I have trade club pm reg no and I can get you a price.

thanks guys, I hve been on the pis till now with my mate to tryand forget about it, mhm if they ask a silly number I will try that thanks.

FFS wen I sober up I wont be able to sleep

9 pints keeps it outa my mind for now though :p

my 2010 trade club book only goes to 09 but trade price is from £82.92-202.58+vat depending on whether standard/chrome and whether zenon AFL.

thanks fanatic, that sounds good compared to what I could be charged

FFS not what you need for a good weekend, why the fook do I bother. shud just get fake plates and pay nothin instead of of tax mot and insuarance for 3 motors

As others have said if they have a traders policy (like me for instance) they may want to keep it simple.
Bearing in mind that they won't want recorded damage on a vehicle so may just put it through body shop.

i hope really hope thats the case , will ring em monday and see what they assess the damge as and how much they wanna charge me.

If it seems to be going pear shaped, threaten them with insurance company
(who normally want 3 quotes and will only pay for insurance approved parts ie non genuine)

So that leaves them a sticky choice of
1) not taking the **** and doing it at cost
2) Insurance wanting different repairer and not genuine parts
3) possibly a marker on car showing prior accident damage-not what they want.

Go for fixed at cost and you want priced quote before agreeing or if they want to **** you about your call insurance.

Point out the damage was not directly your fault and explain what happened.

thanks, will hope it doesnt need it but can try if its no good

What is done is done, unfortunately annoying as it is-don't let it eat at you and screw you up.

I had scumbag who created witnesses after reporting it to police- seemed like it would never end and had ombudsman involved-made 1k out of a scumbag in the end.

Lost a mirror in 2007, caught up with pensioner and told to **** off-result she got 8 points and £750 Costs and insurance voided

Main dealer trader I assume. They'd prefer to sort it without insurance for sure.
The light can be replaced and the dented bonnet can probably be fixed using PDR methods leaving the car good as new and any prospective buyer none the wiser.

Has the light unit broken on the fixing tabs or could the lens be changed? Might be worth looking in to.

Lastly, does your classic have brakes? How the fook did a tin pot piece o ****e Escort push a 2 1/2 ton Range Rover backwards? The Astra clearly drove into the back of you.

Okay re reading it again fett:- try the I'll sort my damage out you sort your damage out route.

lol , it would be great if it was the lense only. it only had to move me about 2 feet and i hit the brakes but there is a limit to how quick you can react! wasnt really expecting to see a car coming the wrong way round a 1 way system to be honest!!

fanatic, if I go that way I can see it dragging on and on maybe with insurance and I just wanted it sorted with the minum of risk to my perfect drivng record and as long as its not too expensive thats prob the easiest way.

if they try taking the **** I will go a different route though.

thanks for the advice, I will try not to let it get to me too much, nobody needs it though

I'd tell em to sort it theirselves as well... he must have been far too close to you if you pushed back into him, I dare say the astra did run into you and the driver is probably fearful of his job if he admitted it!
