Right so thinking of having my flex plate changed starting to vibrate a bit now. Ive done some searches but nobody seems to get back and say if changing it has stopped the vibrations...

Soooo would anyone out there that has had it changed please tell me your experiences with it. Ive been qouted 520quid fitted or 320 if i supply the part your thoughts?

thanks

W

Always assuming that the flex plate is the source of the vibration.

For sure. It would be a bit of a bitch to get a message from the garage. "Well we changed your flex plate, couldn't see much wrong with the old one". "Oh by the way we changed a couple of U/Js they were rattling around like whippets dick". That would go down well. :D:D:D

Ujs checked and fine. Are there only two gear box rubber mounts on the bottom of the gear box? if when the truck is idling you push on the gear box the vibration goes away any thoughts?

Knackered mountings then, pushing on the box could not affect the flex plate. Pushing on the box may also move the exhaust.

I replaced the mountings only a little while ago... I crawled under it and wedged an exhaust rubber in between the body work and the gearbox and that stops it. what should i look for on the mounts they seem fine...

You sure the exhaust is not touching the body somewhere?
Which mountings did you replace, gearbox or engine?

My 4.6 does it in reverse stationary and I'm pretty sure it's the exhaust touching the x-member. It's very close.

It's on my to do list, sitting at No 24
