FL2 TD4 - Wheel studs to replace lock nuts?

Hi all,

I want to do away with the locking wheel nuts on my FL, is £4.99 per stud the norm, as in here?

Why replace the stud just replace the locking wheel nut with a standard wheel nut

Sorry not quite getting this, why replace the studs if all you are doing is replacing the nuts? Just remove the locking nuts and replace with normal nuts. If you have lost the locking nut key you can replace it ie https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-STC3424 or http://mcgard.com/lrj/ a little searching on the net should come up with the right key. Failing that try this .

God, sorry, I thought nuts and studs were the same - I just mean the studs!!

still a little confused here lol
the stud is the threaded bit the nut goes onto
only the nut is the bit you turn to take the wheel off
only the nut has the lock bit in it.

i did my pads last night - those locking part of the wheel nuts are not fit to carry the torque required to fully tighten them.
is my key damaged or is this the norm?

I hate locking wheel nuts but unfortunately, they are a necessity in the world we live in. However, I'm more concerned about having the catalitic converter nicked. There was a news item recently where cctv captured a couple of scrotes stealing the cat off a Toyota in about two minutes. It cost the owner about £700 to replace it.

You mean the nuts. Just remove the locking ones, and replace them with standard non locking nuts. Don't forget to tell your insurers, as they'll want to increase your premium, as the wheels will be easier to steal.

Don't forget you tell your insurance company though, having 4 wheels go missing, only to find you're not covered, will be more inconvenient and costly than keeping the locking nuts.
