If you watch the videos on youtube from the likes of AvE or Bigclive you'll be shocked at the poor quality and dodgy practices of some of the LED lights. Unfortunately it seems you get what you pay for when buying the cheapest models.
It would be nice if by paying more you were guaranteed better quality but unless you buy a known good make from a reputable seller that isn't always the case.

I've watched Bigclive, Mikeselectric and Julian Ilett on YouTube for years.
Electronics, particularly Optoelectronics has been a hobby of mine, since school days. LEDs are my favourite light producing device. I've been playing with high power CREE emitters since they were developed in the mid 90s. I've quite a collection of them in my workshop.

I have to admit to spending rather a lot of time watching AvE. His humour and silly cockups have me laughing out loud which very few shows manage.

The problem is, often we don't know what is being imported. Not everything from China is garbage. A lot is, but there are some diamonds in the rough about.
The trick is to check carefully what you are getting. Look at the pictures. Analyse the text in detail. Do calculations on current consumption and voltage to check claims for yourself.
If after all this, you still expect whatever you buy could be rubbish, then you won't be disappointed.
Above all, if you aren't happy, or if it's not up to standard. Use your rights to get a replacement, or refund.

Also it's worth remembering, all these products are made in China, regardless of who's name is on the box. Even those ridiculously expensive American bars will be made out of Chinese components.

Yes indeed. Sometimes the most accidental and off the cuff humour are the funniest things we see.

I'm looking at this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/172402097461
It is cheap. It claims to have 42 Cree 3 Watt emitters. It looks like it has better emitters than Epistar normally fitted at this price. It claims 126 Watts total and a theoretical 11592 Lm. This would equate to emitters making 276Lm. This isn't impossible for newer CREE emitters. I like the way they say "theoretical". This to me says that it won't make the full 11592Lm. This is good for emitter life and temperature control. To be honest, if it only makes half that output. 6000Lm is still a huge amount of extra light. That's the same as all 4 of my facelift's H7 headlight bulbs. So even if they are only half the claims, they will still be putting out huge amounts extra light.

It gets good reviews here.
Edit. Don't know why but I can't paste the Amazon web page here like I can an ebay page. Anyway search for it in Amazon and it gets good reviews.

Righto... me mate has right royally let me down.

I'll do it messen on the floor...

The front grill / frame - if I undo the bolts underneath and the screws on top does it jus lift away?

With regard to the main beam - I assume I just cut one of the main beam supplies and put the relay in, then a fused feed through the replay to the lightbar?

Here's the fixings diagram.

That's putting out some good light. What's your thoughts on it?

Very powerful for what it is. More than enough for my car to be honest.

It's mounted on the top grill just below the LR badge, the horizontal part of the front 'A' structure is more than man enough to take it.

It is reasonably subtle and look very nice there, I mean it looks NICE... not overly garish. I'll take a picture of it on the car in daylight and post it up.
