Hello all.
Looking to do away with the little blue filter that sits at the top of the engine for the breather system. After seeing a Vid on U Tu8be.
Number 1. Does this work and can it be relied on. If so, Any recommendations for a Kit to purchase.
Its Said that it improves emmisions??
Any help and advice welcome.

Cheers all.

Its really easy to change to the BMW mod. I dont think it reduces emissions but it reduces worry as you dont need to check it ever again and worry about a blockage causing an increase in internal pressure.

Thanks for all replies.
Think its worth giving it a go. Just to ask, is it a solely a BMW part? And should others be avoided?
Thought best to ask before I look/ buy.
Grateful for your time on this.

I bought the Mrs one from ebay it included a turbo vent filter and it cost me £14.95. The vent filter was something that looked liked it had been pulled out of a pond!

In relation to the additional smoke I've actually seen less and the TD4 is running a lot better however we have had a fair amount of work carried out on it.

The first one you list is the insert and the second one includes the case and breather vent. I'd put the first one in your case, job done!

Thanks for clearing up that for me.
Hope it goes in one way only :)
Big help Andy and saved me some bother. Should be able to work out how it goes in...
Cheers

It can increase smoke on starting, as it allows quite a large amount of oil into the intake pipes.

Aha, this is useful to know as I did this recently as well as changing an injector and I've been surprised the puff of smoke on start-up was about the same as pre-replacing the injector. Thanks.

I'm getting the same startup smoke blast after changing out the neglected looking roll filter. I don't suppose it takes long before a new disposable filter starts to look like it just escaped from a tarpit.
