Hi all, does anybody know if you can replace these eng. mount bushes with the polyurethane type & if so are they at least as good as the originals ? The replacement I used a couple of years back (which now has a bit of play in it) didn't have the weight on it so I thought I'd put the original one back on with new bushes if possible.
Many thanks in advance.

You can use a poly bush made for the Rover 200/400/25/45, but you won't like it. It's definitely much longer lasting, but transfers lots of engine vibration to the body.

Took mine out again, tick over was very noisy in the car, particularly if in drive and foot brake on.

I have wrapped a rubber strip around the worn rubber doughnut before with great success!!

I'll give that a miss then I don't want to end up like andyfreelander with his not so 'good vibration ':D:D, cheers.
Sorry I misspelt your name andyfreelandy:(

Yes I must admit mine is a bit rough like that on idle ( that's why I want to change the eng mount again).
I tried mine this morning & no matter how I drive it I can't reproduce the vibration you mention, at 50mph it's registering 1500 rpm & it doesn't matter how light I am on the throttle, even going up an incline & getting into top (about 45mph) it doesn't vibrate or drone even if I accelerate gently or put my foot down in which case it kicks down & then changes back into top at about 60 mph. I did replace my o/s fr. driveshaft with one from Bearmach (thinking it would cure the knocking noise I had that couldn't possibly be coming from the 2000 mile old drop link !) & that's been fine on mine, done 20,000 miles since the unnecessary fitting. Hope you get to the bottom of the vibration problem.

Thanks for the test results.
I have found a good spare lh drive shaft, I think the vibration is more on the left. Much worse under power so will change it and see what happens.
Noises and vibrations are hard to track down and solve!!
