2001 1.8 petrol fl1. Hope someone can either tell me what i have done wrong or which wires to short out! This is my project shed! All doors locked and opened on the remote fine, then 1 day after not being used for a few weeks the car battery was dead, no problem i can open the drivers door with the key, er no i cant, turns out that the bar from the barrel to the lock was broken, (i smashed the drivers window to get in as i had a spare) so new bar from breakers fitted, key works fine but when i close the door the car still thinks its open! so cant lock it without the alarm going off. Right then, sourced replacement lock from breakers (£10) fitted, still the same. So have i missed something simple, or is it coincidence that both locks have the same fault, or can someone tell me which wires to join to "trick" the car into thinking the door is closed. Help will be gratefully received. Cheers in advance

Is there any power getting to the lock itself. In theory when lock from the key that should activate the central locking. What did the remote do after you press five times. On another note try not to break the window you could feed a long hook to feel for the door handle inside. did you disconnect the battery before replacing the new lock. Also on another not where did you get your breakers from local or outside. I was looking for some spare parts.

yes there is power to the lock, locks fine with fob or key, interior light and dash light show door still open, i smashed the window as i have a spare junk fl1 so it was the quickest easiest option as i knew i would have to take the window out anyway to investigate the initail lock fault. did not disconnect battery as i has disconnected the lock jack plug. i will try the lock 5 times thing now, Breakers in Dumfries has a x reg fl1, 5 door in red, half leather seats. will let you know how i get on with the 5 lock bit, cheers

I think I read somewhere it is fairly easy to connect a battery charger (or charged battery) to the alternator from under the front of the car if your battery dies.
