Freelander 2 (LR2) FL 2 - petrol version, any good?

Hi all - I normally inhabit RR forum, but SWMBO is making noises about a newer, more reliable (ha) LR, so I've been looking at FL2. We don't do enough mileage to make diesel a sensible proposition and I don't like diesel anyway.
There seem to be very few petrol versions around, (8 nationally on autotrader in our budget range of about £9000). Specifically, I'm looking at this:- http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif...ice-to=10000&postcode=s417et&page=1&logcode=p
It's on at £4995 which seems to be about 2.5k to 3k too cheap compared to the others of similar age (but admittedly with less mileage), and it's also the nearest, too good to be true?

There also are very few threads on here about FL2s, which would seem to be a good thing.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Very few petrol FL2's sold in the uk as diesels are so good
petrol will probably be thirsty hence peeps going for diesels
lz doesn't have many FL2 owners but the numbers are growing
freel2 is more popular for FL2 but content on ere is growing
 
It's a Volvo engine and gives very little issues

Things to look out for are noisy power steering and sticking rack, gearbox works as it should and noise from rear diff

Rest of things to check is normal stuff like all electrics work etc

Petrol drives great but economy is in early 20s

Economy isn't really a issue, I'll be doing less than 5k a year, and I currently have a 4.6 HSE which I once (with very great care) managed to get 22mpg! So I'm used to fuel figures in the low to mid teens . . .
More research on parts availability, etc is required.
Think we'll test drive a local diesel version for a general idea of whether it suits her before travelling miles to look at the petrol one.- (very picky, my other half).

Parts availability is fine for both the engine and the car in general

And if you drive the petrol you can't beat the sound and the performance it offers so it's a no brainer for the miles you cover!
 
I'd go the petrol route if I were in the market for a FL2. You get more car for the money, that's for sure .
 
Petrol versions are cheaper but mpg would be around double in a diesel so most peeps would see a benefit to the diesel option after 3 years.
