I have purchassed some new side windows for my 90 county defender, and would like to know what is the best sealant to use to glue them in and are they ok with just gluing them in ?

Tiger Seal or a good RTV silicone will do.

If you want to keep your defender I'd suggest making the windows a little more difficult to remove?? :(

Thanks

Is it available at B+Q or Halfords? and can you advise the fixing, should I drill and bolt as well?

Thanks

Why not go to a local independant windscreen fitter and buy a tube of the proper stuff. If it's good enough to hold windscreens in (and survive crash testing) it should do the job. I know windscreen fitters who put kitchen cabinets on the walls with the stuff!

Cos a sharp knife round the window frame will quickly release it from the vehicle side.

Hi Dogsbody

I did go to Autoglass on Saturday, and apart from the specialist gun they use to put the sealant on with, the 3 guys there, said it was more than their jobs worth, to either sell me the sealant, or do the job as a forengner.

Keith

Autoglass, a division of Belron one of the world's largest car part suppliers, is hardly an independent windscreen company!!!
