Fitting Heater Box

Was going to bolt my heater box in tonight but one of the nut inserts is missing circled in pic,
I know the part number but don't think my local Landy place will have one.
Is there another way I can get round this or will I have to order the correct part for it. ?

Just use an M8 or M10 Rivnut. That’s how I done mine.
 
Thanks Mick just googled rivnut, That's how thick I am :rolleyes: Probably the same as part number. Do you just push them in ?, I know the thread is M8

You would need to see which one fits the hole the best. From memory M10 fits better, but standard should be M8.

The rivnut does just push in yes, but then needs a force applying to “pull” the thread towards the flanged face. I have two different tools for fitting them, but I have used a bolt, coupe of nuts and washers to fit them too. I will see if I can find a video.

When I bought my new bulkhead it was not fitted with rivnuts for the heater & steering column bolts and while M8 may have been what would have been fitted in the factory, I found that M10 rivnuts fitted the holes perfectly. Everything bolted together with the larger bolts no problem.

Always used to tighten rivnuts manually but a few years ago bought the Laser tool (shown below). Excellent tool and makes setting even large rivnuts an easy operation, also does rivstuds and pop rivets.

Thanks will get a couple of each, M8 and M10. I have seen other Rivnuts on other parts of my Bulkhead, not sure what bolts in to them Yet but will find out when I come to them.
 
If you remove the cover over the wiper motor you can drill through and use a long bolt, but I would use and have used a rivnut. It wouldn't hurt to get some oil squirted into the bulkhead while you are in there! I use a mix of paraffin and engine oil to squirt into places that may other wise rust out, especially when working on the bulkhead.

Looks a great tool that, I finally got the missing rivnut in the old fashioned way, not perfect but its in and bolted heater box on. Never thought about squirting some oil In. I did cover it all with that Carust stuff a while back but only on the outside,
