Fitting a Puma bonnet on a td5 - A/C surround needed??

If I fit a puma bonnet to an earlier model, will I need the air con spacer that the centre grill attaches to??
All the ones I can find in pictures have the surround fitted, maybe because tdci's all come like that, but will the bonnet look odd without the surround? Anyone done this?

Ive fitted one without the air con grill and it looks ok, Id get you a picture but i have removed the grill to paint it.

infact i have found a picture of one with out the air con grill,
Not mine by the way.
