My TD4 FL1 has almost 200,000 on it now and I want to get her to 250 if possible.
I am looking at the possibility of fitting an inline DPF to the exhaust system.
Has anyone by any chance already gone down this route ?
Have searched but no joy yet.
Thx all
I must admit I havnt done the manifold - will do - PCV changed - I've always stayed away from additives, use good quality oil every 10,000 - which injector additive do you use ?Follow Arctics advice above… get the manifold off and clean it out, and do the PCV filter if you haven’t already.
Also stick some injector magic through the tank - I generally stick it in on half a tank of fuel.
Give it a ‘good run’ Just before the MOT…
just worried about smoke emission test in 6mths - last time tester said she only just passed .. yeah I get it - I'm odd ! but professioally I am familiar with arrestment equipment - and in principle dont see a problem with a correctly specced particulate filter (abvs needs changing from time to time) ... but perhaps that just my ignoranceM
Most odd. What's your thinking on this? How is it going to help you get to 250K?

Just keep it standard and serviced. Why on earth would you want to retro fit a known diesel killer to it
Thanks Artic - I will clean the manifold and map ! All the rest I have done/do - tbh I am just worried about the vaguries of the smoke emission mot test in 6mths - last time tester said she only just passed and am trying to figure a sure fire anti-smoke fix.. Professioally I am familiar with arrestment equipment - and in principle dont see a problem with a correctly specced particulate filter (obvs will need changing from time to time) ... but seems like that is just my ignorance Time to break out the serious solvents.Clean the manifold EGR, and Map sensor, change the oil & oil filter every six months even if you only do 5,000 miles per year or 12,000 miles, maybe do an original EGR blank by gutting the EGR, new fuel filter every year, along with air filter and PCV filter and motor on you should get well over 250,000 if you look after it, a chap on our Rover 75 club his diesel with the same M47 engine has done over 425,000 miles only ever used super market fuel, still running on the same injectors.

Thanks for all your suggestions and sorry to cause alarm!
I wonder what % of smoke emmisions are caused by combustion product deposits building up within the exhaust system itself .. to be blown out on starting or revving hard ? (my annual dread.. the MOT test)
Can't help wondering about cheap disposable inline filtration tho' .. (sans the expensive metals) .. will have to have a look at what happens on Trucks ..
