Munt it as close the rear door as possible. Fit a short springer and put a short piece of pushbike innertube over the spring. (stops owt getting caught in the spring) you'll never lose a nuffer.

you can get stainless one now, cast ones i got through 4 in as many months in my mind the cast one are ****

Cheer's for the advise so where is the best place to fit a springy arial on a 90 as i intend to use the 90 for green laning

I'd say gutter but why don't you buy a shorter ariel to try and avoid it breaking off all the time, That whats I've done with the D1.

I'm considering fitting mine on the spare wheel carrier (when I finally get one), assuming it is ok performance wise and doesn't bang against the back of the roof. Think it would look good and could run the cable down the carrier and up where the wiring loom enters.

I just got the biggest mag mount I could find and stuck it on the roof. Worked so far ...
That wouldn't work on an ali defender would it?

Yeah i have been thinking about something like that aswell, thinking of a bracket that would go round the front of the ( rear door mounted spare ) with a centre high but away from the spare wheel arial mount but not sure yet
