Glad you are getting sorted

I'd take the hit and go to a new garage, the retest period may have expired now and I wouldn't put a foot or anymore money across their threshold.

- after all you've just saved on one sensor anyway - let alone the hundreds saved by a bit of time spent on here.

Front and rear sensors - £80 approx from Autosense on Ebay; bill for MOT, fitting of sensors and re-setting (if that is the correct term) £220. So £300 all in and a far cry from £762.60 as previously quoted from Rover Workshop on Duke Street in Glasgow!

THE END!
:)

PS
That looks like about 4 hours labour which is about right for how fiddly they can be. They would have self re-set and the lights gone out themselves however a run through the computer would clear the stored faults and show up anything else a bit intermittent so in all you've done ok. I had similar last week myself with my air con condenser. £720 to supply, fit (3 hours) and re-gas. Bought and fitted myself (40 mins) for less than £100 and just needs a re-gas at about £60. (I wont name the garage though as they are normally quite good).

Hope it´s ok that I borrow this thread for a moment.

All of you who has replaced your abs sensors?
I changed my right front bearing and when I took my Freelander for a test drive the tree amigos where shining. I figured that the ABS sensor might have got damaged. There was a small dent on it and I replaced it.

Problem is that all the lamps are still shining. Two of them when the car starts and the last one as I it hits aprox. 10km/h.
I have tried to move the sensor in and out. from 0.15mm to 5mm.
Does anyone know what the distance should be?
Or does anyone have any other tip what the problem could be?

Hi and welcome to the madness!

abs sensors - magic.....

when you have got the old blighter out then new bush on new sensor - push home all the way in - use the grease sachet supplie with sensor - the driveshaft reluctor ring will then push the sensor back to the correct air gap and the three lights go off as you drive down the road.

THANK YOU!

I dont understand how but I just plunched it all the way in and suddenly everything works!
